Ballari: Murder case - 26 convicted, sentenced to life term

Ballari, Jul 14: The first additional district and sessions court, through a verdict delivered on Wednesday July 13, sentenced 26 accused persons to life terms in connection with a murder case.

Judge of the court, V S Dharwadkar, finding that the charges levelled against the accused have been proved, pronounced life terms to each of them and imposed fine of Rs 50,000 each.

The case pertains to murder of Ramanagouda (36), Sannamallanagouda, and Nagarajagouds (40) after fight broke over the issue of irrigating the agricultural field from canals, on November 9, 2007 at K K Hal village in the district. Seven persons in total were attacked in this incident.

Two separate first information reports were registered in Moka police station in this connection, naming 26 persons as being responsible for the deaths. Criminal investigation department, to which this probe was entrusted, had completed the probe. After investigating the case for eight and half years, the investigating officer had filed charge sheet in the court.
