Mangaluru, Jul 16: Edgar's Altinovo Solutions in association with St Alyosius Gonzaga CBSE School and Derik's Chess School will hold 'Gonzaga Open Rapid Chess Tournament' at Loyola Hall here on Sunday July 17, informed Edgar A J Pereira, founder and managing director of Edgar's Altinovo Solutions.

Addressing a press meet here, he said, "We strive to empower the community through a proactive and deep involvement in sport. Rangoli Digitals, Golbal Data Systems, Daijiworld and Big FM are our partners supporting this event."

Prasana Rao, administrator of Derik's Chess School and chief tournament arbiter said, "It will be an open rapid chess tournament. Anyone from anywhere can compete in this tournament. It will be held under 10 categories, namely under 7/10/13/16 boys/girls and open (men and women). Nearly 300 contestants will take part in the event. Prize money of Rs 25,000 and trophies for the top 3 and cash prizes for the top 5 in each category will be awarded."

Founder of Daijiworld Walter Nandalike will be the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony and deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim will be the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony.

Errol Pereira, chief executive officer of Global Data Systems and Priya were present at the press meet.
