Puttur: Gas tanker - truck head-on collision, three hospitalized

Puttur, Jul 17: In an incident which occurred at Bedrody in Bajathur village near Uppinangady on the evening of Saturday July 16, a gas tanker and a truck got involved in head-on collision. Three persons were seriously injured in this accident.

Gas tanker driver, Ilayaraja (42) from Salem, Tamil Nadu, tanker's cleaner, Suresh (38), and truck driver, Shakeel from Doddaballapur, sustained serious injuries. All of them were admitted into a private hospital at Puttur.

The gas tanker was moving towards Mangaluru from Bengaluru when it hit a truck carrying coal from Mangaluru to Bengaluru. Due to the impact of the collision, the gas tanker jumped into the roadside storm drain, while the gas tanker placed on the trailer fell by its side on the road.

Reportedly the truck carrying coal suddenly changed its direction when approaching the gas tanker, as a result of which this accident happened. Al case was registered in the traffic police station here, and investigation has begun.
