Mangalore: MSEZ Materializes Dream of ‘Reverse Migration’

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (KM/RD)

Mangalore, Nov 22: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district would see the magnitude of its development during the past 30 years within the span of next five years, if Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) comes into effect in full swing, said Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, president, Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) here on Thursday November 22.

He was delivering the inaugural address during the seminar on ‘the potentials and prospects of MSEZ’ jointly organized by Srinivas Institute of Management Studies and MSEZ, at Srinivas College auditorium in the city.

SEZ is environmental friendly.  The officials and people involved in the Zone have taken meticulous care of the environmental factors.  It has foresight towards the environmental impact. It has been highly sensitive to the environmental related aspects of the region. Locals are also of serious concern of SEZ too, he added.

KCCI which has been contributing to the overall development thinks SEZ could be the ideal choice of Mangaloreans’ for the progress of entire district. "One should not have any prejudice against SEZ as it comprises bouquet of fortune to give-away to the future generation of the region," Capt John Prasad Minezes, former president, KCCI, said in his address.

The implementation of SEZ makes the dream of reverse migration of the Mangaloreans possible. The reverse migration could be all the times best that would happen in the city. The concept and realization of SEZ is not new to the mankind. The US is a living example in this regard. If countries like China are open-minded why the Indians are luddites, he questioned.

Changes always face resistance.  The crocodile tears of so called environmentalists have nothing to offer to the growth of the nation. They deserve mere negligence, if the Mangloreans think of giving invaluable contribution to the region, then it is only the MSEZ that deserves in the first place, stated A G Pai, Chief Operating Officer, MSEZ Ltd.

A Srinivas Rao, vice-president, A Shama Rao Foundation and Bhujanga Shetty, president, Kalavoor Samyuktha Hitarakshna Samiti were present on the occasion.

Gilroy is absolutely right in giving his open opinion. Myself being in gulf during the Kuwait Iraq war have seen the effect of pollution due to oil well fires which has effected thousands of adults and specifically new born children during this period and I myself is a example of that.

As Mr. Pai explains crocodile tears of enviornmentalists, first let himself confirm what steps these great officers have done to bring under control till this date the our so beautiful enviornment almost eroded due to bad roads (dust), very poor quality vehicle emissions etc.etc.... and then let him come to other aspects. If these people on top cannot control a small problem like vehicle related pollution, what they can do related to this large project of PCPIR???

We had a Kannada lesson in Sixth standard, where a cat tries solve the problem of two rats- whereby it devours both the rats. MSEZs comments are akin to this story-trust us and we'll improve your life and don't harm your enviromnemt. If MSEZ is talking about US example- read this the environment here is so polluted that women when they are pregnant have to think twice before eating anything because most of them contain pollutants, which might cause defects in their newborns. It is laughable to read the comment that petrochemical industry (MRPL) is not detrimental to environment- IT industries may be possible. Just take the example of Houston, USA. BEcause of petrochemical industry, kids as well as adults are suffering. We don't want MRPL in and around the villages of Mangalore.
