Kundapur, Jul 23: School children of Hosamata Charukottige government Junior Primary School, Korgi gram, Kundapur boycotted classes and protested on Friday July 22, along with their parents, SDMC and villagers holding placards against transfer of additional lady teacher in the school.

There are 32 children, headmaster and two teachers in the school, one being a lady. After receiving government orders, the lady teacher was transferred. The parents and SDMC were unhappy about it.

Children from nearby Korgi, Salkemundu, Charukottige, Koorvadi and Kadinabettu come to the school. Many locals prefer to study in this school instead going to English medium schools.

The school has an auditorium, garden and a gate. Children are provided free books every year. Three autos have been arranged to ferry the children. The parents have said that more than twenty additional children will come to the school from next year. They said that if the lady teacher is transferred only two male teachers will remain in the school and the male teachers may find it difficult to respond to needs of female students.

Parents threatened to send their children to English medium school if the lady teacher was transferred. Neither the education officer nor any government official arrived to receive their complaint. Finally when the CRP arrived, the protesters gheroed him and expressed their anguish.

The parents who were waiting for officials, cooked meals on the school ground and ate the food with their children. CRP accepted their written complaint later. Zilla panchayat member Srilatha Shetty, gram panchayat members and local leaders visited the place.
