Mangaluru, Jul 27: 'Sirigannada Geethanjali', the Kannada translation of Ravindranath Tagore's Nobel Prize awarded book 'Geethanjali', by A Narasimha Bhat Kasargod, was released at Shivarama karantha auditorium of University college, Hampankatta on Thursday July 28. Veteran Kannada writer, Yerya Lakshminarayana Alva along with other dignitaries released the book.

Speaking on the occasion he said, "The book Geethanjali was written when devotional writing was at its peak. This book is not one that has to be read at once, but it should be read everyday in order to understand it. A unique divine world unfolds in front of you when you read it."

Lauding the work of Narasimha Bhat, he said, "Along with Geethanjali, Narasimha Bhat has translated books of many eminent authors to Kannada. He has gifted Geethanjali to the Kannada literate world through his work."

Introducing the book to the gathered, A Narasimha Bhat thanked those who helped him during the work of the book. Speaking about Ravindranath Tagore he said, "Ravindranath Tagore was a poet who maintained harmony between the east and the west. In Geethanjali he has sacrificed himself at the feet of God. Through spiritual thoughts he has combined love for the world, love for progress and love for God in his book. It is a noteworthy fact that no writer in India has written as much as he."

Principal of the college, Uday Kumar Iruvatthoor, president of the university college old students association Dharmendra Naik and others were present at the occasion.
