Udupi: 22-year old youth commits suicide by jumping in well

Udupi, Jul 31: A 22-year-old youth committed suicide by jumping in well on Friday, July 29. The youth has been identified as Kiran Acharya (22), son of Umesh Acharya, resident of Kurkal gram Chokkadi.

It is learnt that he was suffering from mental tension for the last few days. He was under medical treatment for his illness.

He was a post graduate student in a college at Shirva last year. He was recovering from his mental ailment informed his family members.

However all of a sudden, he jumped in the well on Friday night, July 29 when the family members were sleeping.

When his family members did not find him till 1 am in the wee hours of Saturday, July 30, they started searching for him and found his mobile on the wall of the well. Though they got an indication of his jumping in the well, they could not see in the dark.

Fire brigade came in the morning on July 30 and lifted the dead body.

After recovering from his mental tension, he was preparing for his remaining examination while also looking for a job. Before committing suicide, he had gone to Udupi eye hospital and after donating his eyes had signed the necessary letter of permission.

Unfortunately as much time had elapsed after his death, his last wish could not be fulfilled.

In his death note, he wrote that a power restricted him. “No medicine can make me as before. As I cannot handle pressure, I am committing suicide,” stated his suicide note.

He had sent a message as “the end” to all of his friends on WhatsApp before his death.
