St Agnes PG Diploma holds graduation ceremony, inaugurates next batch

Mangaluru, Aug 1: St Agnes Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and counselling conducted a graduation ceremony for its fifth batch of students and inaugurated its sixth batch of students on Friday July 29.


Dr U V Shenoy was chief guest at the function.

He stressed on the importance of counselling services by trained professionals in today’s world. He said that right from small children to the elderly, especially professionals require counselling, as it has come to notice that people succumb to pressures and end their life nowadays.

Lugina Miranda, a well known counsellor in the city along with Leena Fernandes under the guidance of Sr Marie Evelyn started this part time course in 2011. Today the strength has grown from 8 participants with two resource persons to 16 participants with 8 resource persons.

It was heart rending to hear the graduated batch come up on stage and mention about their life changing experiences and their experience as professional counsellors. After this 16 newcomers were initiated into the course.

At the end each one present left agreeing that every adult has to undergo this course or reach out to the trained professionals.
