KE Global starts certificate programme in entrepreneurship at Christ University

Bengaluru, Aug 9: Following the inauguration ceremony, dignitaries from KE and Christ University discussed on various platforms as to how an Industry - Institute Collaboration and the skill gap measures can be assessed with the collaborative efforts between KE and Christ University to make such programmes effective in the future. This initiative from KE and Christ University will definitely complement the vision of our Prime Minister in ensuring the importance of skill development in India.

The duration of Entrepreneurship programme would be for 10 weeks. Sessions would be conducted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 4.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. In addition, students will be provided with infrastructure and necessary facilities required for undertaking the entrepreneur internship projects. On successful completion of the Entrepreneur Programme, KE will present the students with a certificate.

Entrepreneurship is a key driver of our economy. Prosperity and a high majority of jobs are created by small businesses started by entrepreneurially minded individuals, many of whom go on to create big businesses. People exposed to entrepreneurship frequently express that they have more opportunity to exercise creative freedoms, higher self- esteem, and an overall greater sense of control over their own lives. As a result, many experienced business people political leaders, economists, and educators believe that fostering a robust entrepreneurial culture will maximize individual and collective economic and social success on a local, national, and global scale. It is with this in mind, Kanara Entrepreneurs (KE) Global and Christ University successfully launched this joint program during the year 2014 to prepare students to nurture and succeed in an entrepreneurial economy.

The certification course on Family Business programme during the year 2014-15 was successfully completed and well appreciated by Christ University and students as they gained all round knowledge on entrepreneurship by the world class entrepreneurs and also gained not only theoretical knowledge but also practical aspects of business.

This year KE Global partnered with School of Business Studies and Social Sciences, Christ University, Bannergatta Campus and announced the commencement of certificate programme in Entrepreneurship for its students as part of its E-cell activity. This programme was inaugurated on 15 June this year by Ivan Fernandes, Chairman - KE Global in the presence of Peter Anil Rego, President - KE Bangalore, Dr (Fr) Thomas C Mathew, Vice Chancellor – Christ University and Prof Jyothi Kumar, Associate Dean.

The Entrepreneurship programme will be conducted by expert entrepreneurs of KE Global who have rich hands on experience of handling businesses like textile, transformers, manufacturing sector and senior management officials in corporate. Experts will cover range of topics on role of entrepreneur, opportunities for entrepreneurs in India, competencies, markets, resource mobilisation, family business concepts, etc. The classes will be conducted through case study methods, group discussions and presentations with the main aim being, to provide holistic view of Entrepreneurship to students. In addition to this, students will be exposed to Industrial visits, Entrepreneur Internships and also get an opportunity to review the real time scenarios in terms of business plans.

Dr Jyothi Kumar welcomed the gathering and talked about the essence of entrepreneurship programme and how this programme help translate the students’ knowledge in the real time scenarios. She also expressed the course on family business has been a great success and hence Christ University is looking forward in collaborating with KE for many more such initiatives so that the students will get hands on practical knowledge and experience. Dr Jyothi Kumar stated that this program is to inspire and enable students to explore their creativity and technical skills as well as to train them in Entrepreneurship.

During the Inaugural Address Dr (Fr) Thomas C Mathew, Vice Chancellor of Christ University, expressed his sincere gratitude to KE Entrepreneurs and informed the students that they are getting the best of their knowledge from these experts and advised them to make utmost advantage of the same. He also mentioned that this program being the first program to be Introduced in the Christ University’s new campus and KE, is bringing good omen to the students and Christ University and hence prosperity.

Ivan Fernandes, Chairman KE Global gave various examples on startups in India and how they are progressing day by day and what differentiates them is the way they operate towards success in the long run. He informed the students that this is the right age for students to explore towards entrepreneurship. He also gave few examples on real scenarios and how one can learn from their failures. He also stressed on, more the failure more will be the success in the long run.

Ivan Fernandes appreciated the innovative spirit shown by the students, promised full support for strengthening the Entrepreneurship Program at Christ University. Ivan Fernandes underlined the need to constantly innovate and reinvent their ideas and in changing time and technology. He mentioned the advantage of starting their own organisation than working as an employee elsewhere. He also cited examples of successful companies to establish his key arguments.

Peter Anil Rego presented the overview of KE organization to the students. Also he informed the students that KE objective is to train and mentor the students from young age to hone and sharpen their entrepreneurship qualities, encourage them to prepare successful business plans and execute them to create wealth, thereby helping in the growth of society and country at large.

    A great University with the best of Education . I was happy to see this University with a green and clean Campus giving Quality Education for the youngsters.If I was born again , it would be Christ University that I would join for my Education.
