Karkala, Aug 11: Senior-most civil lawyer from the town, S Rajagopalachar (83), passed away at his residence at Tellar Road here on Wednesday August 10. He is survived by wife, two sons, and a daughter.
Rajagopalachar began his profession as a junior for his father and well-known advocate, A N Seetharamacharya in 1956, and became popular and highly respected because of professionalism and in-depth knowledge. He was felicitated by the state bar council some years back, recognizing him as one of the senior-most lawyers from the state.
He was also functioning as legal adviser to several banks in the taluk. Acharya, who was one of the founder members of Rotary Club here, had worked efficiently in different capacities in that club. He had been honoured with Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship. In addition, he had also served as trustee of Bhuvanendra Colege here and also as president of the board of trustees. He was a member of academic council of Manipal Academy of General Education. Manipal Academy and Syndcate Bank had jointly chosen him as the personality of the year and felicitated him. He was actively involved with a number of institutions and organizations.
Acharya has left a bill, donating his body to Manipal hospital for research work.
