Udupi, Aug 11: A girl student of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) died under mysterious circumstances inside her hostel room on August 8. The deceased has been identified as Gouri, a third year B Tech student of MIT.
Gouri had bolted the room door from inside and slept. At night, her friends came to her room. As their repeated knocks on the door went unanswered, they broke open the door and went in. They found their friend lying in unconscious state inside the room.
The student was immediately rushed to Manipal Hospital. However, by late night, the student passed away at the hospital without positively responding to treatments, it is said. No clear cut reasons were given for her death.
A case of unnatural death was filed in Manipal police station relating to this incident.
