Udupi, Aug 16: The three main accused in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case were on Tuesday August 16 produced before the court, after their police custody ended.

The accused, Bhaskar's wife Rajeshwari, son Navaneeth and astrologer Niranjan Bhat were produced in the CJAM court.
All of them have been sent to judicial custody till August 24.
While Navaneeth and Niranjan have been taken to Hiriadka jail, Rajeshwari will be lodged in the women's cell in Mangaluru district jail.
Speaking to daijiworld, ASP Sumana, who is the investigation officer in the case, said, "We did not ask for police custody as we have interrogated the accused, especially Navaneeth and Rajeshwari, thoroughly. If needed, we can ask for police custody again after the judicial custody ends. Meanwhile, we have lot of other areas of investigation to focus, like finding the remains in the three rivers. We will investigate the case from all angles."
Public prosecutor Praveen Kumar said that a decision on the DNA test is most likely to be taken on August 18. Blood samples from Bhaskar's mother Gulabi Shetty and his brother, and matching it with the pieces of bones found in the Palli river. The report on the bones is still awaited from Bengaluru. Once the DNA test is done, the report is expected to be out in 15 days, he said.
Significantly, the public prosecutor also said that if the DNA samples of the blood and the bones match, that itself would be a strong evidence against the accused.
The judicial custody of other two persons arrested in the case, Niranjan's father Srinivas Bhat and Raghavendra, both of whom are charged with destruction of evidence, also ends on August 24.
Interestingly, none of the main accused - Rajeshwari, Navaneeth and Niranjan - has applied for bail so far.
NRI businessman Bhaskar Shetty went missing on July 28, but it was days later that his murder came to light. He was allegedly murdered in cold blood by his son Navaneeth and mother Rajeshwari, and his body taken to Nandalike where astrologer Niranjan Bhat allegedly burnt it to ashes and threw the remains in three nearby rivers.
