Udupi, Aug 17: Anupama Shenoy, who was working as deputy superintendent of police at Kudligi before resigning over a controversy concerning construction of a building supported by liquor lobby and reported pressure from higher authorities, released audio tapes relating to four of her cellphone conversations at New Delhi on August 15.

Anupama's resignation dated June 5 was accepted by the government on June 10.

Shenoy, who unexpectedly reached New Delhi, handed over the controversial tapes to the channel, Times Now. She also took part in an interview organized by the channel.

Reports say that Shenoy, who had tried to tackle the illegal liquor sale in Kudligi taluk, faced obstacles in the form of minster, Parameshwar Naik, north east inspector general of police, Murugan, and Ballari district superintendent of police, R Chetan.

The first tape pertains to call made by district in charge minister, Parameshwara Naik, who questions her in a raised voice about not picking his previous call. When he tells her to learn to respect others, she asks him to give respect and get it back in reciprocation.

The second call is from inspector general of police. He tells her that police are bound to respect ministers, and advises her to call Naik and apologize to him.

In the next call, director general of police, who questions her about her native place and other details in a soft tone, tells her that she is being transferred under unavoidable circumstances and asks her to suggest places for posting her.

The fourth call again is from the director general of police, who tells her that she has been transferred, as she did not come up with any specific request for transfer.

She also is said to have approached the central home ministry seeking justice. She said in her written complaint to home minister, Rajnath Singh, that she could not work freely and honestly to discharge her duties as she was caught in the viciious circle of liquor lobby and political bosses.
