Bengaluru: Yeddy condemns lathi-charge on ABVP workers, demands police apology

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Aug 17: State BJP Chief B S Yeddyurappa has strongly condemned the police lathi-charge on the ABVP activists, who were on a peaceful demonstration, in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Yeddyurappa, who is also the Shimoga BJP MP, said it was a cruel irony that the police have resorted to lathi-charge on "patriotic students" of ABVP, who were shouting nationalistic slogans, but let off as well as escorted to safety the Kashmiri youths who shouted anti-national slogans at United Theological College on Saturday.

The police have filed FIR against Amnesty International.

"I urge the police to identify the individuals who shouted anti national slogans and file FIR against them," Yeddyurappa said.

In a press statement, Yeddyurappa said@ "ABVP is right in all respects to protest against anti-national elements. They were protesting peacefully. The students had not taken law into their hands. Resorting to lathi charge was wrong. The Police should immediately tender an unconditional and unqualified apology."

Expressing solidarity with the ABVP, he said BJP, along with all right thinking people and nationalist forces, is determined not to allow any University or educational institution in Karnataka to become another Jawaharlal Nehru University where anti-national slogans were shouted with impunity.

Why there is No lathi charge on the people who shouted anti india slogan in Bangalore.
But If ABVP retaliated then they should be lathi charge .
Doesn't make a sense .So Indirectly anti India slogan's are allowed but Pro India slogan's will be punished so are we going back to the British or Mugal rule in india .
But i cant see any of the congress media friendly people talking on this subject.
when it comes to anti national slogan that group have a all right's left's every thing .
But if u act against the anti national then u will not have any rights left's.

    Very good sidu .

    These congi's are destroying the name of Indira Gandhi she fought for the nation but these Congi's enjoying the Royalty OF Gandhi family { Real Ghandi family like Indiar Ghandi}
If now indira ghandhi was alive she would have been all these useless minister's out who support anti national in the name of freedom of speech.

Rubber bullet firing is the only solutions to these rouges. This types of protest is curbed in the beginning. In our college days we only concentrate on regular classes and studies. If we are late and absent a notice is served to parents by Principal. This way we studied and excelled.

Hello Yeddy, where were you when Ganapaty & his Goons beating people inside the Church who were not at all involved in any kind of sloganeering. They were just worshing the Almighty. On that unfortunate occasion either you had an eye operation so that your eyes were BANDAGED or you were in KUMBAKARNAS sleep. And what police did to ABVPs should be appreciated because instead of study they are more in protest, are they students or GOONS in making? Specially girls. Shame on them. And finally why the ABVP gang didn't protests in Udupi for Bhasker Shetty murder case because accused are belongs to the same category???? HYPOCRITES!!!!!.

Why chosen only Bengaluru city out of all other cities by Amnesty International India. They should take full responsibility for such chaotic situation. Why lathi charge only ABVP? why not all those who raised anti National slogans.
What is Sleeping useless Siddu & Useless Paramu doing? BJP is only taking mileage from such a situation, Corrupt BSY acting like saviour. Get a life Yeddy, assembly elections are not so soon.
