Mangaluru, Aug 17: Over a thousand students under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Wednesday August 17 protested over anti-India and 'Azadi' slogans allegedly raised at the recent Amnesty International India event in Bengaluru, and demanded immediate arrest of those involved.

A rally was held from Dr Ambedkar circle to the DC's office, where the protest meet was held.

Addressing the protestors, ABVP organizing secretary Naveen said, "Bengaluru is a city of IT (information technology) and BT (biotechnology), but today unfortunately we are hearing anti-national and pro-Pakistan slogans there. Our protest is not against the police who lathi-charged the ABVP workers, but against the anti-nationals who raised slogans against India and the Indian Army.

"The state government, instead of supporting the students on this issue, has used lathis against them. Amnesty International is an NGO which is in favour of Pakistan, how could the state government give permission to organize the programme?" he questioned.

"The shameless state government is against farmers and students," he added.

ABVP activist Keerthan said that if the incident had happened in Mangaluru, students from all colleges would have protested in unison.

The protestors also demanded the arrest of those who allegedly shouted the slogans during the event.

They also threatened to barge into the DC's office if DC Dr K G Jagadeesh did not come outside to accept their memorandum within 10 minutes.

DC Dr Jagadeesh and ADC Kumar then met the protestors and accepted their memorandum. The DC assured that he would forward their appeal to the state government, after which the protest was called off.

If there is something wrong from Amnesty, there are lot of parties and organizations there to protest. Why only school children's bunking classes and spoiling their future in protesting.

ABVP activist Keerthan said that if the incident had happened in Mangaluru, students from all colleges would have protested in unison. Dear Keerthan for that reason Bangalore is IT-BT capital not Mangalore.

Is it patriotism or just to bunk the class? How many of them ready to serve the nation by joining armed forces may be very few. Personally doesn't support degrading Indian sovereignty by anyone may be Kashmiris', Amnesty, or anyone else. But, this too not good progress for future. Empty mind is devils workshop. Azaadi doesn't come free by raising slogans but barbaadi will.

Amnesty International is a International organisation based in London that fights for the rights of people who are oppressed. The Secretary general of Amnesty International worldwide is Salil Shetty.
If some Idiots shouted azadi or whatever slogans at a event hosted by Amnesty International, they should be prosecuted by the law if found guilty. The ABVP is just working on behalf of its political masters on their master plan to close down all NGO's except the one's that blow their trumpet.

    dear
Every NGO has an agenda that we fail to notice if we are on the same side.. people find fault in rss if they stay on other side of the fence.. that's it.

For instance, Amenesty thnks Kashmir people are oppressed where india spends billions of tax money for the development, flood relief etc, but in return we get stones pelted... The same amnetsty does not find fault in the way POK and baluch is oppressed by oaki.. we need to see the hypocrisy of the rouges in disguise.. Dont be so blind dear.. every org work for their masters who pay them... neither rss not aamnesty of green peace kid of ngo is sacrosanct.,, period.

Even Green Peace Campaigner Priya Pillai not allowed to board flight to london. If government finds people act against nation..definitely take stern action.
Whoever may be the person country comes first. So don't bother much. If wants to discuss anything let them take appointment with government concerned authorities and have a meeting instead of protest on road...if intention is good.
Everybody knows about Suzaana Arundatti Roy who created havoc when she visited kashmir and met separatist leader. She is close to sonia gandhi and relative to Subhorta Roy of NDTV. It's big game..planned out of india.
