Kasargod: Man who dumped policemen in rivulet arrested

Kasargod, Aug 18: The policemen from here have arrested a person, who has been accused of trying to kill policemen who had raided an illegal sand mining den, by pushing them into the rivulet. The incident had occurred a few days back.

The arrested accused has been identified as Muhammed Shaffi (40), a resident of Keeyur.

The coastal security police had raided a spot at Kadavant, Talangare, on July 21 after getting reliable information that illegal sand mining was going on there. The gang involved with sand mining there had attacked police constables Ranjith and Ratishchandran, forcibly taken them in a boat and pushed them into the rivulet after reaching the middle of the rivulet. Both of them had swam to the banks and survived.

Three of the accused were arrested in the past. On Wednesday, the policemen arrested Muhammed Shaffi, named as fifth accused in the case.
