Udupi: Bhaskar Shetty murder - Will DNA test make case stronger? Opinions differ

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (RJP)

Udupi, Aug 18: The court order on the DNA test in the Bhaskar Shetty murder case is expected to be out in a little over a couple of hours from now.

Police investigating the Bhaskar Shetty murder case have applied to the court for the permission to subject Bhaskar Shetty’s mother Gulabi Shetty and brother for DNA test. It is believed that there may not be any objection from any quarters for the same and the court is likely to direct the police to collect the blood samples required for the test.

Taking blood samples from Gulabi Shetty and her son, and matching it with the pieces of bones found in the Palli River will be done soon after the court order. "The report on the bones is still awaited from Bengaluru. Once the DNA test is done, the report is expected to be out in 15 days," public prosecutor Praveen Kumar had revealed on Tuesday August 16.

Praveen Kumar had also said that if the DNA samples of the blood and the bones match, that itself could act as a strong evidence against the accused.

But some experts still believe that a bone sample will not be sufficient as even after matching it with the blood samples of Bhaskar Shetty’s mother and brother, the defence can still find fault in it. A bone dumped in the river after burning of the body may not have any living organism in it, say experts. So obviously the prosecution would have to produce other evidence.

So far, the police have only said that they have collected pieces of bone reportedly belonging to Bhaskar Shetty. But they have not revealed yet about any other evidence collected by them, except for the blood-stained clothes of Niranjan Bhat and Rajeshwari.

From the house at Indrali where Bhaskar Shetty was allegedly murdered to the house in Nandalike where he was burnt, there would have been many evidences which could have been collected, feel the locals. There could be blood, hair, nail, peels of skin or any other relevant evidence, which was found in these two houses or in the car which was used to transport the dead body. On the other hand, it is likely that the the police do not want to reveal the details until it is presented in the court.

While the police have declined to give futher information on the evidences collected so far, sources say that they have collected sufficient and crucial evidence from the house at Indrali.

Sources also say that Dr Sumana D P believes that DNA test is going to play an important and decisive role in the case. People believe that the police have taken the case seriously after they faced initial allegation of favouring the main accused.

WHY WE SHOULD GO FOR DNA TEST ALONE AS IF THERE IS NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE TO BRING OUT TRUTH BEHIND THE CRIME
INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR TEST REPORT INVESTIGATION SHOULD GO ON IN ALL ANGLES OF SEQUENTIAL EVIDENCE BY THEN SOME MORE CLUES MAY COME OUT.
THIS IS A STRANGE CASE WHERE POLICE GO FORWARD STEP BY STEP ONLY ON PUBLIC DEMAND AND DELAY WHERE EVER POSSIBLE WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS THEY GET THEIR SHARE FREQUENTLY.

Let Shetty's mother get justice while she is alive for losing her son in front of her eyes during her life who was the support for her life during her old age. she would have been a proud mother seeing success of her son in the field of business and dignity in the society who lost his life in seconds
