Udupi: Gulabi Shetty levelling false allegations against me: Rajeshwari's relative

Udupi, Aug 18: Denying his involvement in the gruesome Bhaskar Shetty murder case, accused Rajeshwari's brother-in-law (sister's husband) who is also named Bhaskar Shetty, on Thursday August said that he had no business relations with the slain Bhaskar or his family since 2012, and accused Bhaskar's mother Gulabi Shetty and others of levelling false allegations against him.

Gulabi Shetty had urged the arrest of Bhaskar Shetty and his nephew Balakrishna Shetty, also a relative of Rajeshwari, alleging their involvement in the case.

Addressing a press meet here, D Bhaskar Shetty said, "I had business relations with the deceased Bhaskar Shetty until 2012, but our partnership ended after that. Since 2012, I have had no business relations at all with either Bhaskar or any members of his family.

"If Rajeshwari and her son Navaneeth have done any wrong, they should be given the punishment they deserve. Bhaskar's mother Gulabi Shetty and others in her family have embezzled his assets earned in Saudi and are now levelling false allegations against me. Even the house in Katapady has been transferred in Gulabi's name," he claimed.

"Bhaskar owed a loan of Rs 6.5 crore, which is still outstanding, to a bank in Udupi. I have heard that the bank had even tried to seize his property to recover the loan.

"Bhaskar and Rajeshwari had marital problems for the past 10 years. Bhaskar used to come to his native every year, and I have myself seen them quarrelling. In fact, I have even mediated between them and helped them patch up. But after our business partnership ended in 2012, I never interfered in their matters," Shetty said.

He also said Rajeshwari was suffering from depression and used to consult a psychiatrist.

"The allegation against me by Buntara Sangha is affecting my daughters. The Sangha is doing this for its own prestige. But who will be responsible if our daughters' lives are affected? Neither my son Bhargav nor Balakrishna Shetty is involved in the case, and neither am I," he reiterated.

"I own Inox in Manipal and two other firms, but I have nothing to do with Bhaskar's Hotel Durga International," Shetty said.

"Bhaskar and I were close friends once, and I had helped him in business matter. I do not have any case against me. I believe he is still alive and safe somewhere.

"Hence, please do not drag me into this matter. I have no connection to it at all," he entreated.

Balakrishna Shetty and others were present.

    You and your mother in law told that gulabi Shetty having kadapady house in her name and some land in her name.
    we agree, it must be her husband's property or else she or her husband got from their ancestors. not necessary it was Bhaskar shetty's property and she had taken from him.
    will Rajeshwari allow to do like that??
    use your common sense..
    wife can get property from her husband or she can get from her ancestors.

    we know u very well and also know Rajeshwari and their family. if their relationship was not good then why Bhaskar Shetty given chance to his wife to handle his all business in udupi..and the residential building in udupi completed last 2-3 years back.. hotel building and even his bank account was handling by Rajeshwari.. all these given to wife without love?? even he had given power of attorney also . do u have any for all these??

    It is possible that Bhaskar Shetty is alive or is dead and buried somewhere else and they have made sure that all the leads end up nowhere. If they don't own up the crime then the case will not be closed and the end result will be the person missing and they might not get his wealth so soon. If they own up the crime and he is alive or buried somewhere, if the investigating agency leads to a dead end then the case will be closed and they will get his wealth.

    Public can not judge as Bhaskar shetty is not around as he only knows the truth who is what in his wealth and dealings. Any word from different connected people will only create confusion and suspicion. If he still alive what is the need for the 3 main accused to confess that he is murdered and burnt and evidence is totally destroyed.

    Since this gruesome murder case is in public domain, Let us try to separate the wheat from the chaff from the above version of press conference.

    1. Why the business relationship ended in 2012 and why could not he at least maintain a healthy relationship with the deceased as a close relative, if not the business relationship.
    2. New version of the story is that Mother Gulabi and her relative misappropriated the deceased assets. Could this be the reason for alleged murder, since the deceased did not heed to the words of his wife, son and their relatives
    3. Person having more than 300 crores assets could not clear his own meager amount of Rs.6.5 Crore loan. On whose instance and what purpose this loan was borrowed? and was there any GPO used to borrow the loan, may also give some more light on investigation
    4. Myself seen them quarrelling, his version itself is an evidence of strained marital relationship between the couples.
    5. Rajeshwari was suffering from depression and used to consult a psychiatrist, this could be a new ground of defense for Rajeshwari ?
    6. I had helped him in business matter, who helped whom, god only knows. Anyway, what way he helped the deceased may also enlighten some more light in the case
    7. I believe he is still alive and safe somewhere, if it is true, then what is preventing him from telling the truth in the press conference that where the deceased is, and by doing so, let him do an extraordinary favor to the deceased victim, his mother, family, general public and Rajeshwari , their son & others who are unnecessarily implicated arrested, languishing in judicial custody.

    @Abdulla ,Udipi,you are right.when sugar is there,ants are not far and fall over.exactly is here.Everyone wants to have a Piece of cake.Quite possible B.Shetty is hiding and alive?How did the mother say first he is abducted and missing.?or he is by mother hiding?out of fear.?well Police have a lot of work to workout.who knows how many People are involved in this net?Important is he is alive and safe.(HOPE).Did the mother see when someone abduct?
