Mangaluru: Man who stole Rs 20 lac from parked scooter held

Mangaluru, Aug 19: The Pandeshwar police have succeeded in arresting a person who has been accused of stealing Rs 20 lac from the storage area under the seat of a scooter that was parked behind the office of the regional transport office RTO) here sometime back.

The arrested accused happens to be Madhusudan (40), who belongs to Malaipatti village in Tiruchinapalli, Tamil Nadu. Rs 10,000 has been recovered from him.

As per reports, a person named Rajesh, who had some work in RTO had parked his scooter, after keeping Rs 20 lac cash given to him for safekeeping by someone, in the space provided below the seat, before going into the office. The incident happened on August 6 last year. When he returned, he had found that the lock of the scooter had been broken and cash had gone missing. Thereafter, a complaint was filed in Pandeshwar police station here.

city (south) station criminal intelligence sub-inspector, Anant Murudeshwar, arrested Madhusudan from the city railway station on August 17. It is said that the arrested man is a member of a gang having 13 to 15 members from "Ramoji Nagar in Tiruchinapalli district, and members of this gang specialise in executing thefts by concentrating on places where heavy cash transactions take place.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of city police commissioner, Chandra Sekhar, deputy commissioners, Shantaraju and Dr Sanjeev M Patil, as well as assistant police commissioner of city south sub-division, Shruti S S and directions of Pandeshwar police inspector, K U Belliappa.

    It is very suspicious.A man gave 20lac.for safe keeping to his friend,why dd he self Keep itis first question.second how come the Person Keep so safe and go to Office without any worrys.Most important now is how come the thief just breakopen the same scooter and no other one.?Did he knew it?or was informed from the Person who gave ,so that he gets some Money,to the thief and he has his lacs back without anybody knowing it?There are instances to cheat the insurances from the car Shops for example or Gold jewellers etc.and Police could recognize him is really amazing .hats off to Police.

    Yes..Same doubts come in my mind..how anybody give to other person to keep his Rs. 20 lac..its not Rs.20,000, and this person simply keep this 20 lac under his seat and go without any worry to do his job? Any person never keep the valuables like this.Also how the thief came to know that, he kept so big amount in his seat? Police only recovered only Rs.10000. Where is remaining amount gone? Police must investigate this matter.

    Marvelous job by Police. How they caught the thief without any cctv footage and that also exactly after one year?.This is called Achae Din to carry rs 20 lac concealed in a scooter.

    Let us not worry about source of money! Source leading capture of thief is important! No one has authority to steal if money is illegal!! I guess one police stole such money and paid the price!!
