Mangaluru, Aug 19: A rowdy-sheeter was brutally attacked in broad daylight at Moodushedde here on Friday August 19, in the presence of his wife and child.
Charan (31), a resident of Capitanio, was travelling by auto with his wife and child when four persons came in a Bolero and attacked him. Charan died in a hospital a while later.

The attackers waylaid the auto near a petrold bunk and allegedly dragged out the family. They then launched a murderous assault on Charan, before fleeing the spot.
The auto driver said that Charan's child was in his arms when he was attacked, but there are no reports of injuries to anyone else.
The driver also said that three of the attackers could be identified as Imran, Rizwan and Saifuddin.
The same auto driver also took Charan to a private hospital, where he has been admitted.
It is learnt that Charan's mother had undergone a surgery recently and Charan, his wife and child were way back to Mangaluru after visiting her in Moodushedu, when the attack took place.
Charan had been arrested by the Kavoor police in late 2014 in connection to some case. The VHP and Bajrang Dal had alleged that Charan, who was a right-wing activist, was tortured in custody and had demanded the suspension of the then SI Umesh Kumar. Even former CM and present state BJP chief Yeddyurappa, during his visit to the city at the time, had visted the Kavoor police station and held talks with the police. SI Umesh was suspended, but reinstated less than a month later.
Mangaluru rural police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

Speaking to reporters, police commissioner Chandra Sekhar who visited the hospital said, "The murderous attack on Charan, who hails from Moodushedde, took place between 1 and 1.30 pm. Some assailants came in a Bolero and attacked him. We cannot ascertain the number of assailants right now. We have formed three teams to trace the culprits. We have definite clues and we are working on them, but we cannot reveal details."
Asked about the motive behind the murder, he said, "It is too early to come to a conclusion, but as per initial investigation it looks like a case of past rivalry. We will need a couple of days to trace the culprits."
