Udupi, Aug 19: The members Brahmashri Narayana Guru Billava Seva Sangha from Shivagiri Kokkarne near here condemned Praveen Poojary's murder in a press meet held at press club here on Friday, August 19.
K Bhaskar Poojary, president of the Sangha condemning the murder of local BJP leader Praveen Poojary said “Praveen was a simple and hard working person. The murder was intentional and pre-planned. He was a dedicated to Billava Sangha and rendered sincere service. He came from a poor family. He had recently purchased a new three-wheeler goods tempo for livelihood. He also ran a small chicken shop."
Describing the incident when Praveen Poojary was killed, Bhaskar said, ‘Praveen received a call for the hire of tempo on Wednesday, August 17. He went to Kadike along with his friend Akshay. When they reached there, about 15 -25 Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajrang Dal members waylaid them and assaulted with sharp weapons. Praveen’s kidney and heart got damaged in the attack. Akshay managed to escape, but Praveen was killed."
"Soon after that, one of them phoned Brahmavar station saying the local activists had caught cattle traffickers.” he added.
Bhaskar congratulated superintendent of police P K T Balakrishna and Brahmavar police station for their immediate response.
“Such incident should not continue in future. Innocents should not be killed like this. Police should be take stern action against the culprits.” Bhaskar said.
