Mangaluru, Aug 20: A delegation of AAP members from the coastal region met Praveen Poojary's family on Friday August 19. Praveen Poojary had been murdered by 'cow vigilantes' of Sangh Parivar in the city on Wednesday August 17 late night," said Rohan M Shiri, district AAP secretariat in-charge. He addressed a press meet here, on Saturday August 20.

Shiri said, "We have also offered our condolences to the family and have assured them of providing legal assistance. Praveen's mother speaking to the delegation expressed that the murder of Praveen in the name of cow vigilance was a planned murder as he was an active BJP worker and a good citizen. The delegation also gathered that the 'cow vigilantes' are involved in extortion from NRIs and builders in the name of 'protection of cows'."

He further mentioned that incidents of moral policing have brought a bad name to the coastal district. Though Praveen Poojary was a BJP party activist, the party had not supported him and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary had been silent even though a member of his own community had been
murdered.

On being questioned as to how many NRIs and builders were met by the delegation and to reveal their names, Rohan Shiri refused to reveal the information stating that it was not an appropriate time to do so. A few builders had complained about extortion and the delegation has been gathering information on the same since a long time.
