Kundapur, Aug 20: There is unhappiness in Kundapur BJP after appointment of office bearers in the district and the taluk. There were differences during Vidhana Sabha and Zilla panchayat elections and there was confusion in the ranks after some of them had resigned for their posts. Though everything seemed to be alright on the surface, BJP activists are angry that those who are actively working are not being given proper position and status. They had called a meeting in a hotel at Kundapur on Saturday evening, August 19 and held discussions.
BJP leader Belve Vasanth Shetty in the meeting has said that those who have worked for the party hard need not worry as those will surely be given suitable posts in the near future. “We should proceed putting the country ahead of the party. BJP should not be a victim of somebody’s selfishness. Party is important for us and not an individual. Some people are found using the feelings of people as the weapon instead of concentrating on development. Kundapur needs leaders like PM Narendra Modi who are aware of their duties and win working hard for development”, he said.
"Activists who were with BJP backward morcha district president Rajesh Kaveri and actively participated in party activities have been left out. Who will answer them? Those who were speaking against the party have got positions. Our fight is not against a party or its symbol. We have the responsibility of uniting the activists and strengthening the party," he added.
“We have the responsibility to work hard and make BJP MLAs win in the next elections. Development is possible only when local people who work for the party become MLAs and people's representatives. The highway problem in Kundapur is complicated at present. But nobody seems to be bothered about it. If the local candidate is made MP, it would not have been like this, say the local people. It is inevitable to answer them," he said.
More than 150 activists had gathered in the meeting who shared their opinions. The opinions will be collected and sent to district and state BJP leaders. “If there is no positive response from them, we will go forward toward suitable action for the unity and wellbeing of party workers”, said leader Merdi Sathish Shetty.
Former convener of state fisheries corporation Kishore Kumar, backward morcha Chief secretary Vittal Poojary, former Taluk panchayat member Pradeep Chandra Shetty,Rajiv Shetty and others were present.
