Thousands participate in Tiranga Yatra at Shiroor

Kundapur, Aug 21: "People are fed up of the failures of Congress led-government in state. BJP is awakening the state government regarding the indifference by the state government such as harassment of students, denial of loan subsidy to fisherwomen, false promises of loans and other anti-people policies," said Karnataka state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa.

He was speaking after inaugurating the oath-taking ceremony and conference at BJP Byndoor unit here on Saturday August 20. Earlier, Yeddyurappa flagged off the 'Tiranga Yatra' in which thousands of people participated in a bike rally at Shiroor.

"BJP will be contesting all the 224 seats in the next elections. We are confident of winning in more than 150 constituencies and forming a model government in the state. BJP aims to uproot the anti-people government in the state. All the activists should set aside their differences and work for the unity in the party," he said.

"ABVP which protested against Amnesty International which shouted slogans against the Indian army is being harassed. If the government does not change its stand, it will be necessary to protest across party lines. BJP workers are being harassed by the Congress government in the state.

"Narendra Modi led-government in the country is taking steps towards revolutionary developments. Foreign countries are welcoming the suggestions and guidance of Prime Minister Modi with red carpet. Lacs of unemployed youths are getting jobs with Make in India initiatives. Congress had emptied the coffers while stepping down from its rule. It ruled country for more than fifty years assuming that the country is for it. The BJP has never adopted step motherly attitude towards the state. The state chief minister is unnecessarily criticizing the union government without using the funds for productive purposes. Railways are developing in the country. Hundreds of crores are released for the development of ports. People wish that BJP should have come to power ten years earlier, reflecting on the good governance of Modi," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister and MLC Kota Srinivasa Poojary said that 15,000 fisherwomen in Byndoor should obtain loan at 3% interest. "As the government has not released the subsidy, the banks have come forward to collect 12% interest. The state government had announced of setting aside ten crores for 'Moorthedaara' women. Where is the money gone? Despite the allegations of irregularities in several crores meant for the development of ports, the minister has not ordered an inquiry," he said expressing anguish.

Ex president of Byndoor mandala, B M Sukumara Shetty handed over the reins to new president Sadananda Uppinakudru in the presence of Yeddyurappa on the occasion.

BJP district president Mattaru Rathnakar Shetty, Zilla panchayat president Dinakara, Taluk panchayat president Jayashree Mogaveera, former MLA Laxminarayana, Lalaji Mendon, BJPs Thinagale Vikramarjuna Hegde, Udayakumar Shetty, district BJP chief secretary Yashpal Suvarna, Naveen Kuthyaru, Mahila Morcha district president Nayana Ganesh, backward morcha president Rajesh Kaveri, youth morcha, district president Shreesha Nayak, Geethanjali Suvarna, Shamala Kunder, Kiran Kodgi, district panchayat member Babu Shetty, Shanker Poojary, Shobha G Putran, Suresh Batwadi and different morcha presidents were present.

Fisherwomen submitted a petition to release subsidy on loans advanced to them and loans on subsidy to 'Moorthedaara' women.

Bijri Rajeeva Shetty who recruited five thousand members, Harish Tholar who recruited two thousand members and Akshay Poojary who received international recognition for achievements in Karate were felicitated on the occasion.
