Udupi, Aug 21: “If anybody goes against law, I will direct the police to take stern action against them, no matter who they are. Party, religion and caste will not be considered when the law is enforced and action against culprits is taken,” said district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj.

Madhwaraj was speaking in the condolence meet held by Surakshitha Yuva Seva Samithi of Kenjur in memory of Praveen Poojary on Sunday, August 21.

“Youth should think about good and bad things before they do anything in life. Help others if possible. But never ever harm anyone,” Madhwaraj added.

Madhwaraj pledged Rs 50,000 as personal help to the family of Praveen Poojary and said that he will try his best to get compensation from the government as per the law.

He promised that he will talk to Indian Oil Corporation officials regarding the demand by many people to close down the petrol pump run by one of the alleged killers of Praveen Poojary.

MLC Ivan D’Souza speaking on the occasion said “The murder of Praveen Poojary is a shameful act. Maximum punishment should be given to the murderers for the brutal murder. This incident should be an eye opener for others. A message should reach to teh society that such acts should never be repeated..” Ivan handed over Rs 25,000,a personal help to the family of teh deceased.

Former minister Jayaprakash Hegde said “A speech should be productive and positive for teh society. No one should make inflammatory speech. Parents should also make sure that their children are on the right path. Moral education should be given to children so that they become cultured in the society.”

“Cow protection is good. But taking law into hands is unacceptable. No good society can condone this.” Former MLA Raghupati Bhat said.

A special tribute was paid by remembering the good attributes of Praveen Poojary especially his soft nature, social concern and dedication to work.

Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Mairmady Sudhakar Shetty, Praveen’s father Vasu Poojary were present among others.

Surakshitha Seva Samithi president Navinchandra Shetty welcomed and Secretary Santhosh Shetty compered. Samithi also pledged an amount of Rs 25,000 for Praveen’s family.
