Udupi: Fake notes found at bank currency chest, complaint lodged

Udupi, Aug 22: Fake notes were found at Syndicate bank currency chest and a complaint has been lodged about the same.

As per details, 21 notes amounting Rs 13,000 were found between 1 December 2015 and May 31 this year. Out of them, 5 notes are of Rs 1,000 denomination and 16 notes are of Rs 500 denomination. These notes were collected from different branches of Syndicate bank in the district and were found while sorting them out at the bank’s currency chest.

In a complaint lodged at Udupi city police station, Manjunath K V, regional manager of the bank, says that the notes were sent to COD in Bengaluru and it is proved that they were fake.

    A bank with fake notes in it's chest, sounds frightening. Can we check each and every note at the counter? One way of reducing the problems related to counterfeiting is to encourage electronic transactions. I am not aware if the government still charges service tax on credit card transactions. If yes, these should be scrapped. Encourage people to use credit and debit cards.

    I think inside bank some staff are involved in this issue because many people will get like this fake notes but with afraid of law they keep quiet.one of my neighbor also got some notes but she didn't inform anyone.
