Mangaluru, Aug 22: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) held a protest rally from Padil- Bajal to Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) demanding to repair the
connecting roads from Padil-Bajal railway under bridge (RUB) to various places, here on Monday August 22.

Addressing the protest, State DYFI president Munir Katipalla said "people were demanding for the RUB at Padil-Bajal for the past two decades. Though the RUB has been constructed now, it has not been done in a proper way. Even though work had started, it was going on at a slow pace. Then MLA and MP who visited the spot for the sake of publicity assured to complete the work very soon. The connecting roads to Veeranagara, Faisalnagar from the RUB have been closed now. Due to this, people have been facing hardships. Water logging always takes place under the RUB."

"If the BJP and Congress had a concern for people, they would have done the work sincerely. Though the crores of rupees have been already spent on the RUB, it has not become useful to any common person. MCC should solve this inconvenience at the soonest. If they do not act, DYFI will hold severe protests in the future."

Santhosh Kumar Bajal, district secretary of DYFI, said "Padil-Bajal RUB was constructed totally in an unscientific way. Water gets clogged under the bridge and people cannot even walk. The road connectivity has been disrupted for long, but the problem remains unsolved. Though the issue has been brought to the notice of MCC officers, it is of no use till now."

A petition of demands on the RUB was submitted to MCC later.
