Udupi: Court permits transfer of Praveen Poojary murder case to Hebri

Udupi, Aug 23: The court here, on Monday August 22, permitted the police to transfer the case pertaining to murder of Praveen Poojary when transporting cattle, from Brahmavar to Hebri police station. A gang of miscreants had waylaid Praveen when transporting cattle in his pick-up truck and indiscriminately attacked him, causing his death at the end. Pertaining to this incident, a case of murder had been registered in Brahmavar police station.

The investigating officer had approached the additional civil judge's court and additional chief judicial magistrate's court seeking permission to transfer the case to Hebri police station, as the incident had occurred at Santhekatte Kajke within the jurisdiction of that police station. Judge of the court, Rajesh Karnan, who heard the application on Monday, gave permission as sought.

All the 21 accused held in this case are in judicial custody.

Henceforth, Karkala police circle inspector will function as the investigating officer for the case. Investigation of the case has been completed and other process including filing of charge sheet will be attended to by the next investigating officer.
