Bengaluru, Aug 23: A court in Somwarpet has admitted a private complaint that sought action against former MP and actress Ramya for calling the people of Pakistan as good and lovable.
Katnamane Vittala Gowda, an advocate and Kodagu district president of of ‘Prajaranga’, had filed the complaint on Monday. He had mentioned in the complaint that Ramya had ‘insulted’ Indian patriots by praising Pakistan. He had urged the court to direct the police to book Ramya for sedition and for disturbing peace in Karnataka.
JMFC court judge Shyam Prasad admitted the complaint and posted the hearing to August 27.
State Congress working president Dinesh Gundu Rao defended Ramya for her remark on Pakistan. Speaking to reporters Gundu Rao said "Ramya was only sharing her experience of her recent visit to Pakistan. She has not made any controversial statement."

Madikeri : Case filed against Ramya for 'Provoking people to protest'
Madikeri, Aug 23 (Agencies) : A case was registered against Kannada actress and former MP from Mandya Ramya in a Somwarpet court on Monday.
Kodagu Praja Ranga president and advocate, a resident of Beluru village Katnamane Vittal Gowda registered a civil case against Ramya's statement about Pakistan. The case was registered under IPC sections 124 (A), 344 and 511. Her statement resulted in provoking people to protest and affected harmony in the society, alleged the complainant in his appeal. Judge Shyam Prakash received the complaint and posted for hearing to August 27.
One can almost state this in writing. If you praise/defend or say literally anything about Pakistan, someone, somewhere will get offended. This time, it is actor-politician Ramya (Divya Spandana) who is facing ire for her comments on Pakistan.
The Kannada actor and member of Congress since 2011 was recently in Islamabad to attend a SAARC Young Parliamentarians Conference, where she referred to Manohar Parrikar's statement, "going to Pakistan is like going to hell," by responding with "Pakistan is not hell. People there are just like us. They treated us very well,"
At the forefront of the backlash is Kannada actor Jaggesh. Times of India reports while participating in an ABVP protest on anti-nationalism, he said, "People who have not studied and don't have any experience are praising Pakistan. They should be given a peace prize, maybe a Nobel. They should also be allowed to stand next to Bill Clinton and take photos," adding that those who support anti-national sentiments are "mosquitoes and bedbugs" and should be destroyed with poison.
This is not the first time Jaggesh and Ramya have had a war of words; they had previously fought over Ramya walking out of his movie Neer Dosa.
