Bengaluru: Heavily drunk lady causes death of pedestrian

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 26: In an incident which occurred near Lalbaugh west gate here at midnight on Wednesday August 24, a pedestrian was killed after an intoxicated lady drove her car erratically.

In this accident, Subrahmanya (62), a tailor by profession, who was returning home after the day's work, was killed. The police have arrested Bhavatarini (26), who was the errant driver in this case.

Bhavatarini is pursuing MBA course in Westminister University, London. She had come on holidays a month back. She was working for a fashion magazine at Residency Road here, it is gathered. On Wednesday, after partying with friends, she was returning at around 11.45 pm when she lost control over her car and hit the pedestrian. The car then hit a motor bike nearby and came to stop after hitting the wall of a house nearby.

Subrahanya suffered serious injuries in the accident. Locals tried to admit him into a hospital but he had died by then. Another person, identified as Sujith, too was injured in this incident.

After the accident, it is said, locals tried to attack Bhavatarini. Police personnel took her into custody. During medical examination, they found alcohol content in excessive quantity in her blood. She was produced in the court on Thursday, after which the judge remanded her to 14 days judicial custody.

Very very tragic. May the Tailors soul RIP.

Incidently, the girl driver looks very young. Must have had a blast for astami in a pub. Her hangover will come down sitting in jail for 14 days and passport impounded. She will lose even her career in London.

What is the use of cursing and sending rubbish comments, will it help the deceased's family? or is it just for the shake of commenting you people comment? Now here we have to suggest to help his family, ask Bhavatarini's family to help the dead man's family.

    Good question..,

If i am not mistaken, if it is caused by a nationalist (definition limited & exclusive to ABVP domain), then probably ABVP may not take cognizance of the matter to come to the street for a dharna (as it may not suit their masters/ mentors & patrons).

It is our social responsibility to bring awareness of the dangers involving driving under the influence.Suppliers and distributors,as well as bars and hotels offering alcohol must have these statutory warnings. It is painful to see our youth get into such serious driving offences.Prior to having any celebrations where alcohol is going to be served, the hosts should make arrangement of buses or vehicles to every individual to their point of residence or destination.Very sad and disappointing news to know that a man lost his life and now to see the young women in misery and plight .

Now a days women are also equal to men in all sorts of crimes! Money, freedom, highly paid jobs leads to booze parties, drugs, sex etc. No control by parents or elders at home! Women are no less in cheating, killings, taking advantage of gender in slapping false cases against men and husbands have become a routine as we read in daily news! In this case a poor bread winner of the family is killed by this hi fi lady for no fault of his. As expected nothing will happen to this lady except a small fine and few days in lockup!

Its not her fault. Youth are spoilt by what government feeds them. In this case Government gave license to bar owners to intoxicate people for tax revenue sake and the poor man lost his life. Government is the criminal here. Inspite of so many deaths due to drunken driving the Government is still tight and doesn't give a damn to the lives of poor people.

It is her fault because she definitely knows that is not legally not possible to drive a car after consuming alcohol. A guy lost his life and his family is suffering. I hope the young woman will receive a heavy punishment.

i don't support khan nor i am his well wisher / fan. But the way courts have acquitted him has caused many more intentional drunk driving cases and murders with light or no punishment at all & it has become a fashion now a days which is repeating very fast.

he is the patron of drunk driving. if he was punished severely the rate of drunk driving would have come down. try to understand before jumping to conclusion.

another victim to a killer lady. She will pay for her life time now for killing a innocent pedestrian. His family will curse you and I bet you will be cursing yourself for this inhuman act. Yes, it's unintentionally, but being drunk and on havoc drive, it's evident that this girl is completely responsible for his death. May be money ( being seen studying at London _, she may be able to come out with money power, but she will not be coming out of the curse of the family.
