Udupi: Alleged rapist husband, in-laws of woman acquitted in court

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (EP)

Udupi, Sep 12: Udupi district and session court has acquitted the husband and his parents of rape charges levelled by a woman.

Father-in-law Suhas Salvankar, mother-in-law Sushila Salvankar and husband Ravi Salvankar are the ones acquitted in the court.

Ravi Salvankar was married to the said complainant in Udupi in June, 2010. The woman filed a complaint of harassment and attempt to rape, against her husband and in-laws, in the house in Alevoor. A police case was registered in Manipal police station. Ten witnesses were questioned during the trial

Justice Shivashanker B Amarannavar opined that Suhas Salvanker appeared to be very weak and was incapable of rape. He thus acquitted all three suspects from legal charges laid against them.

Advocate Ravikirana Murdeshwara of Kundapur had argued the case for accused in the court.

The case should have been fought on the base of dowry harassment for better court decision.

Very good narration . As the time passes everything changes as far as relation is concerned. Women are more powerful these days. There is no family values. Might is right.

All should know the clear definition of a legal MARRIAGE between the two male and female ADULTS.Man and Woman should know their duties and responsibilities in a married life. How can any of them try to escape from the relation unless and until any one of them have a genuine health or disability to prove.

I am surprised that this law is not being rectified / amended by Parliament. Women are using this law ( tool ) to harass and hold to ransom the husband and her in-laws. In 90% of the cases the husband / in-laws are innocent. I welcome this judgement / order by the Udupi Court. Infact the Court should have heavily fined ( min. Rs 5 Lakhs ) the complainant and her Advocate for filing such a false complaint.

I completely understand the situation of the accused and his family because my son and ourselves went through the same ordeal a few years ago.

Good to hear the justice against false cases. So now what is the punishment for the complainant women who has filed false charges of serious crime of RAPE against Father In Law?? How much insult and humiliation this man and his family has gone through after allegation of rape. This Women should be punished so that none should in future dare to file false charges of rape. If she is not punished then it will be a half justice provided.

Yes I would agree with that point, The old man might have undergone lot of humiliation and pain because of the false charges. Might have suffered a lot. Nowadays its easy for women to level charges. Few weeks ago we saw how an innocent Taxi driver was harassed by girl in Kundapura. There must be strict laws preventing harassment of men too. In life we must remember its not just women who are harassed . Men can also be harassed. A good decision in the end by the honourable court.

Even the concept and perception of husband wife relation is gradually changing over the years, see:

    1990
    Husband: Tea
Wife: Yes darling, do you want plain, masala or with cardamum ?

    2000
    Husband: Tea
Wife: I am busy making children ready for school. I will give you tea later.

    2010
    Husband: Tea
Wife: Don't you see I am on Facebook with my friends. Prepare tea yourself.

    2016:
    Husband: Tea
Wife: What did you say ?
Husband: Honey, I am making tea and asking you if you want it too.

Ahmed Bangalore,we dont know whats happened.who tried to rape and who not.Difficult to judge one because many times wrong decisions or wrong rape case is filed.A woman doesn't file a case simply, against her father in law ,I believe.Behind curtains, even a weak man can become a Lion.when husband is not there, many cases Show that in laws made attempt to rape daughter in law. They themselves must be knowing who is right and who is wrong. But daughter inlaw has the right to file case if she feels humiliated by own inlaws instead of later suicide .Hope the truth Comes out one day.

Suicide is committed by a coward. In this case as you have suggested the woman may commit suicide out of sheer guilt of filing false cases against the husband and his family.

Sometimes we read about a father RAPING his 4 year old daughter. Now this is rubbish. I have given my daughter a bath when she was almost 7-8 years old. So is it considered rape ? A father bathes his daughter / son just to help the mother ( wife ) who is busy in the kitchen preparing a meal for the family. I find this suggestion very silly.
