Kundapur, Sep 23: Surendra Shetty (52), a lecturer at Government PU College, Brahmavar and noted Halegannada and Kundagannada exponent and writer, breathed his last at a private hospital at Manipal on Thursday September 22. He is survived by his wife.

Surendra Shetty had served as Kannada lecturer in Maninalkur and Kokkarne PU colleges before getting a transfer to Brahmavar seven years back. He was a popular resource person and judge of cultural programmes. He was founder member of Thekkatte Yuvaka Mandal and was a noted theatre artiste. Kundagannada and Halegannada were close to his heart. He had written several works including Manini, Rangasthala, Ganapana Pada etc which include collections of poems and plays.
