Udupi: Preparations in full swing for World Tourism Day at Padubidri

Udupi, Sep 23: “Padubidri seashore is being prepared for the grand celebrations of World Tourism day, 2016 that will be held under the aegis of Udupi district administration, department of tourism in Udupi and Coastal tourism committee on September 27,” said Udupi district tourism department assistant director Nagaraj P.

Speaking in the press conference held in Kaup Press club on Friday, September 23, he said that five coastal beaches namely Padubidri, Kaup, Malpe, Trasi Maravanthe and Someshwara Othinene beaches are selected for development. 

“Considering immense opportunities for tourism and development of beaches, it is decided to hold World Tourism Day in Padubidri. Programmes are held for development of tourism with the motto ‘Tourism for all’. Udupi district-in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj will inaugurate the programme. Kaup MP Vinay Kumar Sorake will preside. People representatives in the district, officials and businessmen will participate as guests of honour,” he said.

“The five beaches will be developed and managed with private participation,” he said. 

Unique beach selfie contest

“Unique selfie contest in Padubidri beach and uploading it in Facebook page will be held for public as part of celebrations. Besides competitions of pulling the rope for men and women, Bike stunts show, exhibition of imported bikes and cultural programme will be held by the students. Cash prizes with special felicitations will be awarded to the winners”, informed the committee.” 

Coastal tourism committee president Sai Radha Heritage’s Manohar Shetty Kaup, Secretary Gaurav Shenava, advisor Harsharaj Shetty and others were present in the press conference.
