Mangaluru, Sep 24: Veteran literary figure Dr B A Vivek Rai launched two novels by Professor K E Radhakrishna titled 'Prethambattara Ninthillaru' and 'Prethambatr Ninthiller' written in Kannada and Tulu respectively. The novels were released at a programme organized by the city's Akrithi Ashaya Publications, Kannada Sangha University College and Sapna Book House on Friday September 23.

After the inauguration of the event, Dr B A Vivek Rai addressing the gathering said, "The poets Shivaram Karanth and Kuvempu are great writers who have written ethnic novels in Kannada. Their works are a great work of art and have been written with an open mind. Fiction should not have a conclusion as it is not a thesis. E T Radhakrishna has excellently written on common  and natural living. All castes consist of many spectrums and poverty is found in all castes."

He also explained how the author of the novel has written with a clear understanding of culture, social harmony, language and lifestyle of the people in Tulunadu.

Professor A V Navuda senior scholar speaking on the occasion said, "There are more than 12 varieties of Tulu languages which differ from place to place. Shivalli Tulu book has been written more than 80 years after Sathi Kamale book  was released. The power and essence of Tulu language at large has not been effectively used in fiction.

He also suggested that importance be given to study Paardana and preserve Tulu language in future.

Professor K E Radhakrishna, Mohan Alva, Harikrishna Punarooru, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present at the launch.
