Mangaluru: Overburdened with debt, man from Haleangady chooses to die

Mangaluru, Sep 27: Dinesh S Suvarna (36), son of the late Chennappa Anchan, residing at Indiranagar, Haleangady in the taluk, hanged himself at his home on Monday September 26. He hanged himself from the beams of the roof with the help of a nylon rope.

The deceased was working for a private form at Bykampady since the last 15 years. He had married a woman from the city nine years back. He was living with his brother, wife, and seven-year-old daughter, who studies in a private school at Karnad.

It is learnt that Anchan had raised loans for house repair and was unable to repay the same. In a suicide note left behind, he said he decided to end his life on account of rising liability. Dinesh had raised loans from various sources for repairing his home about 18 months back and had taken loan from the company where he was employed. He also had raised loans from bank. A couple of months back, he had sold some gold ornaments of his wife towards reducing the loans. He worked overtime too to meet repayment obligations.

On Saturday he had gone for work and returned on Sunday night after doing two-day duty, his wife said in a complaint filed with Mulky police.
