National Youth Convention scheduled for next year

Mangaluru, Sep 27: The National Youth Convention, celebrated once in three years, is scheduled to be from 19 to 23 January 2017, at St. Joseph's Engineering College campus, Mangalore. In preparation for the convention, a cross has been taken through different Dioceses of Karnataka.























































 
On its journey through the various Dioceses, the cross arrived on September 18, at St. Joseph's Church, Sagar. Yuva Mitra, the Youth Commission of Shimoga Diocese, along with the youth of Sagar parish, received it.

On 24 September 2016 it arrived in St. Lourdes Church, Thirthahalli. The diocesan youth director Fr Ronald Veigas, Thirthahalli Parish Priest Fr Roman Pinto, Deacon Joseph Monteiro SJ, the youth of the Parish, diocesan office bearers and a large number of lay faithful, witnessed the Ceremony of receiving the Holy Cross and after that, participated in the Eucharistic celebration.

On October 1, the cross will travel to Sacred Heart Cathedral Church of Shimoga Diocese, and on
October2, it will be Handed over to the Syro-Malabar diocese of Bhadravathi.

Taizé prayer service has been the hallmark of the event. Hundreds of youth participated in the celebration followed by Holy Mass.
