Bengaluru, Sep 27: Under the scheme of employing dependents of deceased employees on compassionate grounds, the government has absorbed Vidya, wife of deceased deputy superintendent of police of Chikkamagaluru, Kallappa Handibag who committed suicide, as sub-registrar. Kallappa had ended his life abruptly, overcome by a feeling of shame over the possibility of his name getting sullied over a kidnap case in which he was named in first information report.

State chief minister, Siddaramaiah, handed over the appointment letter to Vidya at his home office, 'Krishna', on Monday September 26.

Father of Handibag, who was present on the occasion, was unable to hold back his tears, as memories of his son filled his mind. The chief minister consoled him. Vidya will discharge service on regular basis after undergoing training  at Bailahongala for a year.
