Udupi, Sep 30: A young girl jumped off the bridge, into a river on the evening of Wednesday, September 28, at Kallianpur. The body was found floating in the river behind the Honnala mosque at 8.30 AM on Friday, 30 September.
Chaithra (18) daughter of Chandrasekhar and Jyothi from Puttur, Ambagilu, is the deceased girl.The incident took place at Kallianpur bridge. After her PUC, Chaithra was working for Net G, a mobile shop at Ambalpady for the past 4 months. In the evening, soon after her work, she took a bus to Santhekatte and later started towards her house by foot.
She was seen talking over the phone and crying, by bystanders. All of a sudden, she left her bag and sandals over the bridge and jumped into the Suvarna River with her mobile phone in hand. The Brahmavar police along with traffic police arrived at the spot soon after. A large number of locals were also gathered.
