Mangaluru, Oct 3: “Dakshina Kannada Janatha Dal(S) has appointed president of Dakshina Kannada district JD(S) and presidents for all Vidhana Sabha constituencies in the district,” said Amarnath Shetty, vice president of Karnataka Pradesh Janatha Dal(S).

Shetty was addressing the press meet in city on Monday October 3.

"As per the guidance of JD(S) national chief Deve Gowda and state chief H D Kumara Swamy, JD(S) has appointed B Mohammed Kunhi Vittal as the president of Dakshina Kannada JD(S) and presidents for JD(S) in all assembly constituencies of Dakshina Kannada. JD(S) presidents are: Vasantha Poojary, president for Mangaluru South, DP Hammabba for Mangaluru North, Mohandas Shetty for Mangaluru, B Mohan for Bantwal, IC Kailash for Puttur, Dayakar Alva Kumbra for Sullia and Praveen Chandra Jain for Belthangady (interim), " Shetty revealed.

Shetty also announced the name of Ashwin J Pereira as the candidate for the 2018 assembly elections from Moodbidri constituency.

Shetty said that Deve Gowda has asked the party leaders to prepare for the assembly elections in 2018. “Hence JD(S) very soon will be announcing its candidates for all the constituencies in Dakshina Kannada. There will be a district level JD(S) convention in the city soon.” he said.

On this occasion JD(S) district president B Mohammed Kunhi Vittal, corporator Aziz Kudroli, corporator Rameeza Nasir, MB Sadashiva, Vasanth Poojary, Advocate Chengappa, Akshith Suvarna, Ashwin J Pereira and others were present.

    Amaranna should have contested this time. Though his winning chances are less, he could have given tough fight to both Congress and BJP.

    Since there is weak candidate from JDS in field now... Congress and BJP will emerge as main contenders & Abhayanna is most likely to win the election as he is the only powerful face in Moodbidri for Congress, as no other leaders within the party will oppose his candidature.

    BJP will definitely give close fight, but chances of winning is very thin. Also, there are 4-5 MLA ticket aspirants from party, who will give tough time to BJP!

    A open question to Former PM Deve Gowda.Will JD(S) claim to be secular will go with alliance with BJP which served earlier?

    Secondly if hung assembly will JD(S) is going to support BJP or Congress?

    My view point is JDS has done right thing, by declaring Ashwin Pereira as its MLA candidate, Since is Very young and dynamic leader, he knows about people concerns and issues, now the generation is changing People will go with person, not party so this time victory is for JDS and I am pretty confident this time People choose JDS because they need change and they are having confidence on young leader. So this time Ashwin’s wave in Moodbidri Constituency. And also look at Amarnath Shetty decision by giving chance to young man to contest, that’s how real leader should be “hats off to you sir”.

    JDS is a sinking ship in Dakishina kannada whoever contest in the coming election. Abhaya Chandra Jain should and must lose by huge margin as Christian and some muslim vote goes to JDS and moreover Abhaya Chandra Jain already lost peoples confidence because of his arrogant behaviour with common people and these are all Plus point for BJP in the coming election.
