Kundapur, Oct 4: In an incident which occurred at Gangolli in the taluk on the evening of Monday October 3, two persons from Mangaluru suffered stab injuries. It is gathered that after a verbal friction arose between the duo and another person, the latter stabbed the two with a knife. Gangolli police have arrested Vinay (30), a native of Odisha, in this connection.

The injured are Bhaskar (35), a resident of Panjimogaru near Kulur, Mangaluru, and Rajesh (42) from Raikatte near Kulur.

The work of painting of the residential quarters attached to the church of immaculate conception at Gangolli had been given on contract basis. Painting supervisor happens to be from Kulur Mangaluru. Vinay, it is gathered, used to work under painting supervisor, Santosh Pinto, since the last about 15 years. Vinay had come to Gangolli to undertake painting work, and the two persons who are now injured had come here the same work four days back.

After work on Monday evening, all the four named above got intoxicated and visited a nearby shed together. Vinay was with them, and he was engaged in cooking. The four people chatted together, and soon they had heated exchange of words over some issue. In a fit of anger, Vinay, it is said, rushed towards the duo and attacked them with a knife he was holding. This happens to be the version as given by the injured persons. The injured were later were treated at a hospital.

After stabbing the two, Vinay tried to escape by jumping over the compound wall nearby. Gangolli police found him out, arrested him, and filed murder attempt case against him. They have taken up investigation.
