Mangaluru, Oct 4: Vani Alva, who was hitherto working as chief officer of Mulky municipality, has been promoted as municipal commissioner and transferred to Ullal municipality. She took over charge of her new assignment on Monday October 3.
Rekha Shetty, who is known as an efficient and honest officer, and who took over as Ullall municipal commissioner on September 23, has been demoted and transferred as community organizer of Sullia town panchayat within a short span. People had lot of expectations from Rekha.
It is gathered that a few councillors had worked hard behind the scenes to transfer Rekha. Rekha's transfer order was received on Saturday. Municipal president, Hussain Kunhimonu, vice president, Chitra, chairman of standing committee, Abdul Fatak, 12 Congress councillors, seven BJP councillors, and three independent councillors met district deputy commissioner under the leadership of block Congress president, Eshwar Ullal, on Monday October 3 and urged him to retain Rekha Shetty as municipal commissioner of Ullal.
