Bantwal, Oct 5: In an incident which happened at Kolake near Sajipa in the taluk on Tuesday October 4, a brave 11-year-old fought his way out from the vice-like grip of a python. The boy who remained composed and showed valor in this chilling incident happens to be Vaishakh, son of Suresh from Kolake Kudur, a fifth standard student of Adarsh English Medium School, Kolake, near Sajipa.

Vaishakh had returned home as usual after school hours on Tuesday. After having snacks at home, he went to the house of his grandfather nearby. He was walking through a terrain dotted by thick bushes on his way back home when a python suddenly pounced on him. As soon as the boy fell down, it began to coil its body around him tightly.

The boy remained unfazed. He started to fight with the python. When the python tried to swallow him by covering his hands and legs with its mouth and sucking, he saw a stone nearby. He picked the stone and hit the facial region of the python hard with it. The face of the python suffered deep wound and its eye was badly damaged. The python was shaken by this sudden attack, uncoiled itself, released the grip and slid away. It is gathered that when the boy shouted, a girl had run to help him but he had signalled her to stay away, fearing that she could be in danger. The girl lifted up the boy and took him to her home once the python went away.

It is said that Vaishakh was bold since young and normally was not taken aback by sudden adversities.

The boy was found to have suffered severe injuries to his limbs and some other body parts as the python had bitten him during the fight. When he was taken to a private hospital at B C Road, the hospital authorities asked the concerned to take him to Father Muller Hospital at Thumbay. From there, he was referred to Father Muller Hospital at Kankanady Mangaluru. The boy's father, Suresh, said that the boy is recovering in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

    Dear Daijiworld readers,
Just a word of advice, In case a python coils around and starts squeezing, remember, Bite as hard as you can the part of the snake near your face, it might be disgusting, it might kill the snake due to sepsis in a few days, but the snake will let go.

Normally pythons attack animals or smaller prey like chicken, but here it mistook his legs & attacked him.
They always strangle their prey & only then start to swallow from head first.
They are not known to fight or with resistance from prey are known to leave them & run away to save itself.
They even vomit swallowed prey to escape if pursued.
The boy deserves to be applauded for the resistance he put which forced it to leave him alive.
