Udupi: Chaitra Suicide - Father complains against lover, two friends

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Oct 5: Father of Chaithra, who jumped into the river from Kallianpur bridge sometime back and committed suicide, has complained to police, alleging that the lover of his daughter and two other youngsters were responsible for this incident.

Chandrashekhar from Lingotigudde in Subrahmanyanagara in Puttur village near here filed the said complaint. His daughter, Chaithra, had suddenly jumped into the river on September 28, and her body was found after two days.

Some passersby had seen Chaithra (18) sobbing when talking over phone when walking towards her home after alighting from a bus on the evening of September 28. Thereafter she had suddenly abandoned her possessions including sandal and cellphone on the bridge and jumped into Suvarna river from Kallianpur bridge before people nearby could react. Her body was found on September 30 morning from near Honnala mosque some distance away.

Chandrashekhar said that Chaithra worked in a concern named 'Net Eye' having its office in Ambalpady. A youth named Adarsh was in love with her and he had visited the victim's home often in the past. Her family too was agreeable to conduct her marriage with the youth. "On September 28, two young friends of Adarsh had escorted her away and dropped her back at home the same evening. It appears that Adarsh, Pavan, and Sagar did something wrong with her during the period she was with them. Because of this incident, we feel she jumped into the river the same day," Chandrashekhar stated in the complaint.

Policemen from town station have registered a case and begun investigation.

We should change ourselves as per the developing and shrinking world. Let us stop portraying sex or intercourse as taboo. Do not feel guilty once you have had sex with or without consent(rape).
In case of rape take it as an assault and proceed with judicial vengeance.
With this, at least the kinds of suicide reported here will end.

True. And if the accusation of her father about certain abuse is true, why did she end her life ? To make it easy for the abusers to go ahead and continue with their heroics with other girls ?

Abetting someone to suicide is equivalent to murder.
So police should investigate and bring out the truth.

Parents advice to youths particularly girls is must. Choosing life partner is very important to lead a good, disciplined and responsible family. A good family built a good Society.

    Peter,

Today's youth are in a too much hurry. Want to try everything in life too soon. In that process forget to access who is suitable and who isn't thus put their parents in a dilemma, whether approve or disprove their demand.

Feel sad for her but too late.

The girl is gone from this world as a coward, not as a hero. Had she been alive and fought the consequential reality(if she indeed was abused), she could have earned respect of a fighter, for whom justice is a privilege.

Since, that she may have been abused is just an assumption, do not ruin the life of those alive over somebody who will never return. If they have really erred, at-least on out of the three will admit it someday.

Please don't sully the poor dead soul by calling her a coward.

Her smiling face should have convinced you to say otherwise.

Until now I had the obnoxious opinion that suicide was for the weak and the cowardly. However after a lot of introspection I am of the opinion that she exercised the option of ending all her miseries once and for all.

It is indeed very easy for all of us to be judgmental, however only she knew the agonizing details of what she went through which none might ever know.

I just hope and pray that the ones responsible for snuffing out the life of the smiling face burn in hell.

    Antonio,

This is not the first time the news is being reported, there were two occasions before this when I did not utter one word. I do understand the trauma with the family. The trauma caused not by me but their own daughter.

I was quite considerate so far and had to comment today because of the scene that is currently made out.

Such complaints by parents when the child commits suicide should be carefully probed before arresting people. Otherwise innocent persons will land up in prison.

Result of fake love & real lust.
Such things do happen sometimes. Bad friends with bad intention should be the cause. Her tears tells her broken heart and the trust she bestowed on her false lover.
Facts will be revealed only after proper investigation. Money is only the question to spend after this case.
