Udupi: Five star friends, Udyavar pay tribute to Uri martyrs

Udupi, Oct 5: Five star friends, Udyavar organized a tribute meeting at Udyavar panchayat ground recently for the brave Indian army soldiers who were killed in the militant attack in Uri area of Baramulla district.

The programme was held in collaboration with cricket members of St Francis Xavier church Udyavar. Gathered guests, public and school children offered flowers and lit candles to pay tribute to the brave Indian soldiers.  

JC Rajendra Bhat, national trainer JCI India, delivered the key note address and said, “People of India and Pakistan want peace. These days violence activities are increasing. I think not many know the true meaning of patriotism. Soldiers protect us from enemies living in harsh condition. They even live away from their families to protect our nation.” 

“During the term of the then PM Indira Gandhi, the Indian army attacked Pakistan and credit went to the Prime Minister. Now the same thing is happening today, public is appreciating Modi instead of encouraging soldiers,” he added.

Mahendra Sharma, principal of Government PU College, Udyavar, Ansar Ahmad, Karnataka Rakshana vedike, Riyaz Palli, vice president, Udyavar, Geethanjali Suvarna, zilla Nityanand Olakadu, social worker also spoke on the occasion.

RJ Errol, 92.7 FM introduced the profile of all 18 martyred soldiers during the tribute meet.

RP Monis, president, Sauharda committee Udyavar was present. Shailesh, a retired army man was felicitated on the occasion. 

Steevan Culaco, organizer of the programme welcomed the gathering. Nagraj, lecturer of Government Women’s first grade college, Ajjarkad compered the programme.
