Sullia: Stung by swarm of hornets, coolie dies

Sullia, Oct 6: In an incident which occurred at Hosolike village near Subrahmanya in the taluk on Wednesday October 5, a 40-year-old coolie, Chandra, was killed after a swarm of hornets attacked and stung him.

Chandra was returning home after finishing his work in the farm late evening on Tuesday when he was attacked by the hornets. However, the incident came to light on Wednesday morning as no one went that way at night. The attack was so strong that Chandra could not save himself and died on the spot.

Chandra was a native of Bengaluru. He was staying with wife and children at Bilinele near here since the last some years. He was working on daily wage basis for agricultural fields, plantations etc in and around Subrahmanya.

A report about the incident was filed in Subrahmanya police station.
