Mangaluru, Oct 6: All College Students' Association organized 'Rasta Roko' on MG Road near Besant Women's College against the state government demanding to stop ongoing Yettinahole project here on Thursday October 6.

Several college students shouted slogans against state government during the protest.

Addressing the protest Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Sandipani Math Kemaru said “We condemn the move of state government for not holding the meeting with people of Dakshina Kannada regarding the project. Though MP Oscar Fernandes assured us of holding such meeting, it is painful note that nothing such has been organized so far. Several MNCs have entered the city and this 'Tulunadu' created Parashurama is being treated as dumping yard for various projects. If such injustice continues, we should think of separate Tulu state. State government should stop the ongoing project Yettinahole. If not, we will continue our protest.”

”We witnessed very low rainfall this time. For sure, we will face water scarcity in the coming days from the month of February. No one should go against the nature.” Swamiji added.

Former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty speaking on this occasion said, “Agitations will be successful when the students join hands. Students should continue this agitations throughout the district against Yettinahole project. Representatives like JR Lobo, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Ganesh Karnik, Shakuntala Shetty, and Vasantha Bangera are in favour of Dakshina Kannada but unfortunately other representatives are not opening their mouths on this project. District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai has remained silent on this issue. When there is no enough water in Nethravati River, why Ramanatha Rai remains blind on this issue? Responding to the problem of people of Dakshina Kannada is his duty and responsibility. Though Oscar Fernandes met chief minister (CM) on this issue, there is no response from the CM. There is rampant corruption in this project. Few political representatives and officers are involved in this.”

Shetty also called on the students to take oath that they will not indulge in bribery in future either taking or giving.

On this occasion former mayor Purushotham Chitrapur, Dinesh Holla, Dinkar Shetty, Praveen Valke, Ananda Shetty Adyar, Yogish Shetty Jeppu and representatives of All College Students’ Association were present in the protest.

Charity begins at home. Appeal to the sponsors of this idea is to request them to ensure that the people of Karnataka...people of the district are taken care of before trying to help others.

    Thank you

Do not block the roads in Mangalore who are the victims of Yethinahole project.
Go to bangalore, try blocking MG road or race course road.

Congratulations! Finally, our students have woken up to the fact that the future is going to be bleak if this project comes up. Keep up the good work. Stop scratching your head about the so called district in charge minister. He has proved that he is good only for warming him chair and for collecting his hafta. We can't expect anything from such people. Take my advice and consign him to the nearest dustbin in the next elections.
