Udupi, Oct 6: Hundreds of depositors and agents, of the multi-crore scam accused Agrigold, from Udupi and other districts,  gathered in Udupi court on Wednesday, Oct 5, as the four directors of the company were to be produced there.

The CID police had produced them before the court on October 1 and obtained five days custody for their questioning. They produced Avva. Venkatarama Rao, Avva Venkatesh Narayana Rao, Immadi Sadashiv Varaprasad and Ramachandra Rao, the directors, at the residence of Udupi Civil Judge and Judicial bailiff at about 8 AM. The judge scheduled the next hearing on October 18, and ordered the judicial custody of all the directors.

As the district and sessions judge was on leave and there was information about the presence of the crowd, the police produced the directors at the residence of the judge. The Police had brought the suspects from Velur prison ,Godavari district, after obtaining their body warrants. Therefore, they were taken back to the same prison.

Agrigold depositors and agents from Mangaluru, Mandya, Mysore and Bengaluru arrived in buses and were waiting in Udupi court. An agent lamented that they have come to ask the directors to not make the agents their scapegoats and asked the directors to return the money. The agents had come in the morning and were waiting in the premises assuming that the suspects will be produced in the afternoon. They went back after making sure that they were produced at the residence of the judge, in the morning. Some were seen cursing the suspects.
