Mangaluru, Oct 6: The Deputy director of the department of Geology has written a letter to the civil contractors association that it has not been possible to obtain suitable information regarding the ways and means for procurement of sand for construction purposes.

The civil contractors had reportedly addressed a letter in this regard to the Deputy Commissioner.

According to the letter, a notice is sent asking for report if the mining contractors to whom permission for sand mining in CRZ area was issued have followed the stipulated directives.

New licenses will be issued only after scrutinizing the report and taking a decision in the district committee, states the letter.
