Mangaluru: Burglary attempt in jewellery shop foiled

Mangaluru, Oct 7: Unknown thieves tried to make their way into a jewellery shop located on Basavanaguri Road, near New Chitra Talkies in the city, in the early hours on Thursday October 6.

The shop targetted by the thieves was Savitha Jewellers owned by Rajesh Shet. At around 3 AM on Thursday, Shet received a call from a person residing opposite the said shop, telling him that some sound is heard from his shop and that some persons were sighted near it. Rajesh Shet rushed to his shop. On seeing him, the thieves ran away, leaving behind an iron rod used by them.

Policemen reached the spot thereafter and looked for clues. They found that the rod had been used by the thieves in their attempt to break into the shop. Bunder police are investigating.
