Udupi: Pickup goods truck hits and kills woman pedestrian

Udupi, Oct 7: A woman who was crossing the road opposite Baikady auto rickshaw stand near Brahmavar lost her life after a speeding pickup goods truck hit her. The accident occurred on the evening of Wednesday October 5 on national highway 66.

The deceased has been identified as Ramani Shedthi (55). The vehicle was going towards Kundapur from the direction of the city. After hitting the woman, the vehicle escaped from the spot.

Ramani, who had suffered serious  injuries in the accident, was admitted into a private hospital at Brahmavar, where she died later without responding to treatments. A case about the accident was registered in the police station at Brahmavar.
